Abstract
Nickel alloys resistant to high-temperature oxidation with carbon content of 0.3 wt.% were studied. Very good mechanical properties at high temperatures were achieved by adding carbon into alloys containing 25 wt.% chromium; the elevated carbon concentration brings about formation of thermally highly stable tungsten carbides (and carbides of other high-melting metals). Attention was centred on the effect of carbon on the structure and phase composition of the alloys and on the relation between their microstructure and mechanical properties. The effect of chemical composition of alloys on the microstructure and phase composition was described. The high-temperature mechanical properties of the alloys were also tested. The data obtained indicate that alloys of this type are promising for use in dynamically stressed components which are exposed to corrosive and abrasive environment at high temperatures, such as components of heated parts of equipment in glass works.
