Young's modulus calculations for systems with periodically distributed identical spheroidal pores of various size, orientation, and shape anisotropy

Abstract
In the presented paper the Young's modulus for samples with periodically distributed spheroidal pores is calculated. The dependence of Young's modulus on the total porosity, size, orientation, and shape anisotropy of pores is investigated. It is shown that presence of pores flattened in the loading direction significantly reduces the Young's modulus value already at low porosity. The Young's modulus as a function of porosity is also calculated for the system with the pore flattening dependent on the value of total porosity. The theoretical curve is compared with the experimental one for ceramics Dy2O3.
