 Abstract
Ti-Nb-Ta-Zr alloys (TNTZ) represent a new class of biomaterials, due to nontoxic chemical elements and promising combination of high mechanical resistance with low elastic modulus close to the bone elasticity (E = 20–40 GPa). This present paper proposes a particular chemical composition of this β type Ti alloy – Ti-29Nb-9Ta-10Zr (wt.%) with a particular route of the applied thermo-mechanical (TM) treatment, in order to obtain a high quality material structure. Structural and mechanical characterization of four distinct alloy conditions corresponding to each TM stage is performed using XRD measurements and also nano-indentation measurements. The obtained results represent a solid base for complex optimization of the alloy’s structural characteristics. Key words
